Quito
Quito, the capital city of Ecuador is located on the equatorial line of the world, surrounded by beautiful mountains and volcanoes. Combined with the kindness of its people, the beauty of its historical parks, streets and churches, this city a place that you can't miss.
Quito was founded in 1534 by Spanish colonizers, before it belonged to the Quitus, a tribe that was part of the Inca Empire, a Quechua civilization.
Today Quito is the home of two million people who represent a important variety of ethnicities.
The city is divided in areas:

The modern district
• The colonial district
• The north area
• The south area
• The valleys of Tumbaco and San Rafael
The main avenues are Amazonas , Shyris , Naciones Unidas, Gonzales Suarez, 6 de Diciembre, !0 de Agosto, Eloy Alfaro and Occidental Highway. Public transportation runs on all of these main roads and all across the city from early in the morning until about 10pm. Prices vary from 25 cents to a dollar depending on the route and distance to travel.
